Revamped SETC is neat

The Thiruvalluvar buses in 80s & 90s enjoyed a special status among people of Tamilnadu. These long journey buses were famous for their big convenient seats, long buses and importantly tokenized reservation system. They lost their status when the maintenance became poor and local omni buses were fast and reliable than Thiruvalluvar.
People travelling from cities now a days use the omni private bus services. Many do not know that the good old Thiruvalluvar transportation is back with a new avatar "SETC". Especially in the last year, they had come up with Ultra Deluxe buses (hi-tech air buses). They have very decent push back seats, with seats arranged in pairs. The engines of these buses are good, as judged from the way it overtakes other buses and the speed pickup. As the buses are new, they are neat and clean. No 'Standing' is admitted in these buses.
Most of all, the cost of the ticket is at least Rs.100 lesser than the leading private omni bus service.
Thanks to the Govt transportation department for revamping a vital service. Wishing a gud luck to grow. Hopefully the services are done properly and the buses ply at good conditions through out. Lets watch and see.

Tamil state corporations is the worst service in South India..

THere is no online booking like APSRTC and KSRTC.

People have to go all the way to Koyambedu and other bustands and stand in Q to book ticket.

If Karnataka and andhra can have online booking why cant TN.

Also other biggest drawback is that THERE IS NOT NETWORK OF BOOKING AGENTS LIKE APSRTC AND KSRTC.

APSRTC have more booking agents to book tickets than TN corporations even inside TN. In TN you have to go all the way to the bustands.

THe website in Tamil corporations dont have Tamil version. Karnanidhi who love Tamil forgot Tamil in govt websites like transport corporations. (Karnanadhi prefers Hindi people in TN airports over Tamil people, prefers Hindi airline annoucements in Tamilnadu over Tamil announcements)

In KSRTC there is Kannada versions of transport websites.

SHAME FOR BEING THE WORST TRANSPORT SERVICE.

Yes I agree that they dont have reservation system, unlike other states.
At the time, I wrote that blog, they introduced Ultra deluxe buses, which was a welcome move (but a late move), after lot of years of sleeping.
Lets look forward for more gud things to happen for SETC

Reservation/Booking in online should be available in all TN state transport buses like KSRTC.
